LD Ryan's Bio:
Dr. L.D. Ryan was born and raised in northern Indiana. Driven by early hardships, L.D. joined the Navy, serving in the Korean War. Here he learned the discipline and work ethic that would take him to earn his Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate in engineering. Dr. Ryan worked as an engineer for various companies, and later began his career as an engineering professor. Dr. Ryan taught at various universities, until taking a sabbatical for two years. His plans on serving in Africa as a missionary during this time were thwarted by foreign government upheaval. Dr. Ryan ended up in Arkansas, intending to serve his sabbatical teaching at John Brown University. The pleasant charm of the south and business opportunities kept him in Arkansas, where he started his own engineering firm, Ryan Engineering. Dr. Ryan’s writing career began when his textbook, Fundamentals of Solar Heating, was published in the early 1980’s. Since then he has written a great deal, from published technical manuals such as the Stepladder Manual, Guarding Manual, and others, to fiction, poetry, music instruction and more. Dr. Ryan founded Donegal Bay Publishing in 2005, initially publishing technical manuals for attorneys and experts involved in product liability. Donegal Bay Publishing has grown to include a variety of topics, books, and authors.
